Oldtown Community Club

Welcome to our beautiful town

History of Oldtown

As its name suggests, Oldtown has been around for a long time. The earliest records show that there was a settlement here in 1023, though there is no more information until the Peasants Revolt in 1381, when the town was at the centre of fierce fighting.

Oldtown is located in beautiful countryside around 6 miles from the sea, though sheltered from the cold North winds. We are a strong and happy community with many families going back generations.

Our population is 2,300 and we have two churches, a playgroup, a primary school, a village shop and a brand new village hall. Older children go to secondary school in Newbridge - a journey of around 6 miles.

The Association

Oldtown Community Association is a voluntary group set up to bring people together from across the village, to preserve what is best from the past and to put forward ideas for development.

Membership is open to everyone in Oldtown over the age of 18. Click "Log in" and apply for membership.
